Senior Manager Appointed

Bolton County AFC are proud to announce that Mark Ormrod has been appointed First team manager.

Mark Ormord has been part of Bolton County for 28 years as a player and manager of junior and adult teams. During this 28 years he has been a member of the committee holding many posts ensuring the club continued it’s forward steps. He managed a team from under 7 to under 18 winning leagues and cups along the way and his under 18 side finished the season as league and cup winners.

He has also assisted in managing Bolton County’s reserve team for several years and when requested he moved up to assist in managing the first team taking them to promotion and cup success  in the first season.  Mark will have a strong team around him with Gary Young, Kevin Aspen, Graham Walton and Sean Beston and hopes to add to backroom staff  before the season starts.

To emphasise the importance of the upcoming season, the management team have decided to start pre-season training on Sat June 21st meeting at the home ground as the Kenyons Cup starts on the 17th July and the season league fixtures at the beginning of August.

The club would like to announce, with immediate effect that Henry Chapman is no longer the open age manager of the club or a member of the club in any capacity.

The club takes this opportunity to thank Henry for all his good work and success during his association with Bolton County, and wish him well for the future.

Bolton County Amateur Football Club

Bolton County A.F.C. (BCAFC), formally known as Bolton County Grammar School Old Boys was established in 1948, but has its origins in the 1920's, when it fell into abeyance during the Second World War. The club was renamed in 1982 when Bolton County Grammar School ceased to exist.

The club is funded by a combination of subscriptions, sponsorship and fundraising. The club have a fundraising committee, which organises several events each season, which are open to everyone.

Go to  and register as a user, then simply make your purchases as normal, the club gets a payment from the retailer.  This is FREE to use & will not cost you anything, just nominate Bolton County FC as your chosen cause.

The club is run on a purely voluntary basis, and is governed by an elected committee.  The club adheres to the Football Association child protection policies and all managers follow guidelines laid down in the club constitution. The club relies entirely on its army of volunteers, who give their valuable time and effort providing coaching and competitive football to hundreds of children from the local community. 

Both Junior and Senior teams have the use of the clubs dedicated facility at Radcliffe Road, Darcy Lever, Bolton, BL3 1AN.

The site has two full size football pitches, and changing facilities, which have been refurbished, providing a facility unrivalled in the area.


Today the club consists of more than 20 teams, covering all age groups from under 7’s, right through to open age football. The junior teams compete in local football leagues, the Bolton & Bury District Junior Football League and the Lancashire Evening Post Wigan League Youth Section

Teams play either on a Saturday or Sunday morning.  We offer football at all levels, from 7-a-side for the younger players, (7 to 10 years old), 9-a-side for ages
(11 to13) and 11-a-side for the older children.

The club also runs coaching for Under 6’s throughout the season.


The 1st and 2nd senior teams play in the prestigious West Lancashire League.
